Tell me about yourselfI am a 19 yo french history student, planning to be a game artist. For the rest, plenty of material below.
What do you study or do for a living? How did you come to do that? What do you like or dislike about it?I'm studying history. It's always been one of my (many) passions, and I've often cited historian as one of my ambitions as a child, along with paleontologist and artist. I was in a scientific section in highschool, and as I graduated I realized that I couldn't go to the school I wanted because of money issues, so I went for biology course at the university, but I didn't like it and went for history, which I don't like either but is a lot easier. Now I plan to get a diploma required for a game artist formation. I don't really like the way I have to retain a lot of specific numbers and informations when I understand dynamics a lot more easily as well as I have troubles working and being present in class.
What are your values, and why?My values tend to change a lot and frequently, as I always question them and as they are modified by how events unfold. I'd say my main anchor is individuality and the certitude of the existence of existence.
Politically, I consistently tend to be rather socialist.
What else do you do on a daily basis? What are your interests and hobbies? Why do you do them?Politically, I consistently tend to be rather socialist.
I don't study much, but still learn stuff about history as my interest arises for them, so it doesn't have to be related to what I'm actually studying at uni.
I'm interested in sciences, physics, biology, computer science, artificial intelligence research, and I follow several scientific channels (Science4all is a very very good one, for the french speakers out there). Let's just say I like to learn stuff on a broad spectrum but tend to dislike things I deem to trivial.
I draw, that is one of my passions, to the point that I want to make a living out of it, both for myself and for projects with other persons, both traditionally and digitally. I made the art for some youtube videos (Imaginarium series (french)), and I also released a game made with a friend (it's called Iron and Rust, I'm currently translating it to english, it's available on itchio).
This game allows me to talk about another passion, music. I play piano and flute, I sing, and I write music (and poems), both as stand alone songs and as soundtracks (hence why the game allowed me to introduce that, knowing that I composed some of the tracks of its OST).
Talking about audio, I write audio stories (they are bigger in France than in most countries), I act (for my stories as well as for others') and I play. For some time, I was a critic on a webradio dedicated to such stories.
I also wrote a novel once, nothing really transcendental tbh, and I'd like to do it again someday but I don't have time for now.
I'm also a martial art teacher and black belt, in a martial art called Viêt Vo Dao Thanh Long.
Upon all that, I tend to spend most of my time thinking about things and debating with close friends about stuff like the meaning of everything, yanno.
On the receiving side, I read, play video games, watch series and movies, listen to audio stories and music and spend too much time on the internet.
I need to create and learn to feel alive, to discover stories, universes, and to let out my ideas. That's how I feel more than just a bag of meat.
What do you look for in friends? In romantic relationships?I'm interested in sciences, physics, biology, computer science, artificial intelligence research, and I follow several scientific channels (Science4all is a very very good one, for the french speakers out there). Friends can have a lot of variety, it just needs the right context and the right spark. I don't have that many friends, but they tend to share at least some of my interests. I tend to be closer more easily to people that are rational, but not down-to-earth. I like to be in the presence of what I identify as intelligence, may it be rather relative.
I'm someone that is subject to rather intense romantic feelings and, even though I'd rather have someone intelligent, reassuring and supporting, yet challenging and playful, my heart is really the one to decide for that one. I've tried relationships not motivated by feelings and it really didn't turn out well.
What conflicts have you encountered recently with other people? Why did they happen? Which kinds seem to happen on a regular basis?I'm someone that is subject to rather intense romantic feelings and, even though I'd rather have someone intelligent, reassuring and supporting, yet challenging and playful, my heart is really the one to decide for that one. I've tried relationships not motivated by feelings and it really didn't turn out well.
I tend to have little conflicts with my brothers for being a bit too authoritative, but that's not much. I'd say I'm not the one to seek conflict, but rather debate, which I can get to be heated sometimes as I like to play the devil's advocate.
I don't keep everything of that kind in mind but I can recall arguing with a SJW community because they were denying the fact that a person I know has been a victim of abuse simply because that person didn't share their view on the thing.
How would your friends describe you?I don't keep everything of that kind in mind but I can recall arguing with a SJW community because they were denying the fact that a person I know has been a victim of abuse simply because that person didn't share their view on the thing.
I just asked my best friend, here's the translation of what he said:
(Introverti, énergétique, passionné, créatif, dispersé) → Introverted, energetic, passionated, creative, scattered
Another one agreed and said he'd add "Intelligent, artistic, joking, curious", another said he'd add "Edgy"
What are your weaknesses? What criticism do you often face from others? What do you dislike about yourself?(Introverti, énergétique, passionné, créatif, dispersé) → Introverted, energetic, passionated, creative, scattered
Another one agreed and said he'd add "Intelligent, artistic, joking, curious", another said he'd add "Edgy"
I have a lot of weaknesses, and may not be aware of all of them. I'd say my social anxiety can be one, as well as a lack of pure strength (I'm fit but small).
I tend to be too disorganized and lazy, and my regular depressions are a true handicap. I tend to suck at being aware of social cues, and I accidentally hurt people a lot of times (not physically). I can be a bit too presomptuous, and I'm not the most polite fella out there.
In what areas of life can you manage well on your own? In what areas of your life would you like help?I tend to be too disorganized and lazy, and my regular depressions are a true handicap. I tend to suck at being aware of social cues, and I accidentally hurt people a lot of times (not physically). I can be a bit too presomptuous, and I'm not the most polite fella out there.
I tend to find a way to get out of most difficult situations, as well as I have a will to live and survive deep down that I know won't fail me.
I have a high IQ, which has been in some ways a disadvantage (giving me arrogance, getting me to be bullied) but I know I can understand a lot of things fairly well, and a lot of people have told me I'm a quick learner. Most of the time, people tell me that they think I'm very intelligent but lack discipline, which is true, and which is a thing I'd need to work on.
Help? I feel desperately lonely in a way that I've seen nobody relieve, so I guess I'm searching for someone that'd help me with that. Else, I like to work on projects with people, that helps me filling the void of my existence.
What things do you find to be a chore? Socializing can be a chore, as well as taking care of people. I tend to naturally want to take care of people I see as lonely and misunderstood, but they're often not that cooperative, and that takes time and effort. School is a chore, I tend to dislike a lot of stuff as soon as it's set in a school setting. Doing trivial chores is a chore, weirdly enough (who'd have guessed?)
I enjoy, else than all the stuff I've already told you about, eating :p and making jokes. I like jokes.
What goals, aspirations, or plans do you have for the future? How did you come to have them?I enjoy, else than all the stuff I've already told you about, eating :p and making jokes. I like jokes.
I just want to keep on create, and I'd want to create something thoughtful, original and interesting, yet entertaining. A true masterpiece yanno. Cuz i'm an artist at heart i guess. And if I can do more than one and in different fields, it's better. Polymathic ambitions, all that.
And if I can live as a game artist, yanno :y
Other than that, I'd want to have children, that's something I really want.
If you had enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life without working, what would you do with your time? And if I can live as a game artist, yanno :y
Other than that, I'd want to have children, that's something I really want.
The same things I do now I guess, with more room for experimentations and better material.
I'd also travel more around the world.
What traits do you find endearing that others might dislike? What traits are considered positive/neutral by others but tend to annoy you?I'd also travel more around the world.
Classic, but I don't like sheepness, comformism for the sake of it, you know. I tend to dislike overly nice persons with a few exceptions too. Too much concern for sensitivities and comfort of people can get on my nerves on certain occasions, and the politically correct tends to too (reeeee normies, am I right, owh the edge all that).
I don't mind big egos, and intellectual confidence as long as it is backed with actual intelligence. I tend to have a lot of tolerance for cringy stuff as well as edgy people.
What kinds of things do you do to manage and/or beautify your environment (your room, your house, etc.)? What do you think of daily chores?I don't mind big egos, and intellectual confidence as long as it is backed with actual intelligence. I tend to have a lot of tolerance for cringy stuff as well as edgy people.
My room is covered in posters and drawings, and with a lot of junk I keep because it's like fixing my memories in the material world.
I don't like to do daily chores, but with some music or video in the background it gets better.
I hate driving, it's stressing and boring.
I keep a good hygiene though.
How do you behave around strangers?I don't like to do daily chores, but with some music or video in the background it gets better.

First of all, I'm really different online and irl, and more introverted irl.
I have different modes, if I'm not engaged or willing to engage in social activity I tend to be awkward, cold and silent, not even talking and communicating with "Mmhs" and gestures.
When interacting with friends though, and when I try to hide away my awkwardness, I use a very bouncy and quirky persona.

Depends. When I feel threatened, I can get very violent but I've progressively learnt to turn my violence away from the object of my anger (still, there are holes in my house's walls because I punched through them)
I tend to also stand my positions in case of a debate (or at least, the one I picked if I'm not very involved personally on the matter) because I consider that it's the opponent's role to find proofs convincing enough, and if they do I'll join their views.
Overall, I'm really not the type to hold grudges as long as I don't feel threatened anymore.

A lot of misconceptions.
I'd say that absolutes don't exist first, which bows down to negating a lot of conceptions because humans like absolutes as they are reassuring and easier to compute.
I'd also say that the way we live is going to be drastically revolutionized by the upcoming technologies such as the technological singularity, beyond what is commonly understood.
Too many to quote them all tbh.

I hung around the internet, drew stuff, and had a philosophical discussion with friends.
What is your biggest accomplishment?Depends on the point of view. I could just say "still being alive" and get away with it. Actually, my previously stated laziness is gonna let me do that.
What is something you regret?I've decided to put as an axiom of my life that as I can't go back in time, I shouldn't regret the past. Which tends to prove efficient, as I rarely have lasting regrets.
I do regret intensely my first romantic relationship, but that must be because I'm an emotional bitch.
Who do you admire, and why?I do regret intensely my first romantic relationship, but that must be because I'm an emotional bitch.
There were and are a lot of admirable people. None is perfect, none is omnipotent, but a lot are admirable.
I'd quote a few of them: Bruce Lee, Elon Musk, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein. And many more.
What's been on your mind? Has anything been worrying or concerning you? What problems have you encountered lately?I'd quote a few of them: Bruce Lee, Elon Musk, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein. And many more.
I've been worried about my academic future (will I get my diploma, will I be accepted in the school I want?), and the uncertainties that surround it.
I've been worried about my sinusoidal curve of depression and demotivation, that prevents me from doing stuff.
And I've been worried about my feelings, which are currently rather in a negative state, that is rather linked to romantic stuff.
What are your religious or spiritual beliefs and why do you hold them?I've been worried about my sinusoidal curve of depression and demotivation, that prevents me from doing stuff.
And I've been worried about my feelings, which are currently rather in a negative state, that is rather linked to romantic stuff.
As a kid, I was fiercely atheistic because intuitively, god didn't make sense, even though my school was catholic. I even ironically prayed Zeus at school :p
Now, I deny the existence of theistic gods and since I don't see the interest of deistic god within my cosmology, I'm agnostic but I'm towards atheism.
What are your political beliefs, and why? To what extent do you care about politics? Now, I deny the existence of theistic gods and since I don't see the interest of deistic god within my cosmology, I'm agnostic but I'm towards atheism.
I don't care much about politics, and my opinions and others' on that are not that relevant to me. It does have some importance though.
I'd say though that I'm rather socialist, internationalist, progressist, the full leftist scum.
Would you ever be interested in starting a business? Why or why not? What role would you play in it? What kind of business would it be?I'd say though that I'm rather socialist, internationalist, progressist, the full leftist scum.
I'm too lazy for that lel. Seriously though, I could see myself starting an independent video games studio. Or becoming a professional writer, or musician, dunno!
What kind of work environment do you prefer? What do you look for in a job?A work environment where personal creativities can converge and mutually resonate.
What is or was your favorite school subject and why?Depended a lot on the teacher tbh. A good teacher can really change how you perceive the subject.
I couldn't really say, but my favourites overall were likely physics, biology, french litterature, english and history.
How do you approach responsibility? What do you tend to expect of others?I couldn't really say, but my favourites overall were likely physics, biology, french litterature, english and history.
I tend to be rather disorganized but at the same time not too demanding. When I'm very motivated for a project, I tend to get more pushy, though.
Where did you go on your most recent vacation? What did you do there? How did you like it and why?I went to Vietnam, since it's where my family came from. I visited a bunch of places, met with the family there that I didn't know and threw up two times :D
I really liked it more than I thought I would, it was very nice discovering a country so far away.
What were you like as a kid? How have you changed since you were a child?I really liked it more than I thought I would, it was very nice discovering a country so far away.
Idealistic, dreamy, shy, exploring, thin as fuck and gifted. I haven't changed that much, I'd say the gap in intelligence with other people seems to get shorter, which is kind of scary but may be normal (I acknowledge the fact that really, most people are quite intelligent indeed). I've gained some muscles, I'm a bit less exploring, more anxious than shy, still dreamy and a bit less idealistic and more rational.
What was your high school experience like?Middle school was the worst time of my life.
Highschool was better because I wasn't beat up every day, but I still felt like an outcast for the two first years (highschool is 3 years in France), then finally had more than two friends for the last year. I started doing more stuff, it was nice, I was doing parkour with a friend, I played basket ball and tabletop rpgs with others. Even though there was the stress of the final exam (and I also had to get my black belt this year), it was one of the best years of my life.

There were many. I could talk about abuse in middle school, or about the realization that I would never go to the school I wanted to which anchored me in chronical depression, but also of the times I met my best friends (on a bus and on an internet forum), of when my community, the chatbox (which I consider like my family) was created upon playing a rpg together with people that roamed the same forum, etc.
Do you like kids? Why or why not?Like with the adults. Depends on which kids. They can be very interesting to talk to, to play with, as well as irritating.I do want to raise kids someday, so I'd better like them at least a bit :p
